Revised draft voter list released in Haryana for Lok Sabha elections-2024

Chandigarh (KK)- Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Anurag Agarwal released a revised draft voter list today for the upcoming 2024 elections, in the presence of representatives from various political parties. He emphasised the significance of having an accurate voter list for any election, urging political party representatives and booth-level officers to collaborate in rectifying any errors in the voter list. This voter list is to be used in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

         Sh. Agarwal held a meeting with representatives of political parties in Chandigarh, including the BJP, Congress, CPI(M), Aam Aadmi Party, INLD, and JJP.

He stated that claims and objections could be filed until December 9, 2023, with special campaigns scheduled for November 4, 5, December 2, and December 3, 2023, where staff would be present at polling stations from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.The resolution of claims and objections would take place on December 26, and the final voter list would be published on January 5, 2024. According to the directives from the Election Commission of India, political parties can submit a maximum of ten Form 6, 7, and 8 at a booth level agent or worker's office in a single day, he added.

         He stated that any issues, suggestions, or complaints can also be communicated to the concerned District Electoral Officer or Registration Officer, or by contacting the toll-free number 1950 at the Haryana Chief Electoral Officer's office in Chandigarh, a household survey was conducted through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to prepare the draft voter list, political parties can still provide information about voters who have either passed away or relocated during a special campaign for the creation of an accurate and error-free voter list.

         The registration of young and female voters is lower than the proposed population, and a special initiative has been started to encourage them to get their names registered on the voter list. Under this scheme, a lucky draw will be conducted to provide laptops, smartphones, and more than 100 pen drives, he added.

         Furthermore, he mentioned that the Election Commission of India has partnered with the postal department to ensure the delivery of photo-identity voter cards to the residential address provided by the voters.
