During the Lok Sabha general elections, the illegal sale of liquor will be totally banned, Chief Election Officer

Chandigarh, (KK) - Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections, Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. T.V.S.N Prasad and Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Anurag Agarwal chaired a joint meeting with  the Deputy Commissioners on Saturday through video conferencing and gave  them necessary directions.

Sh. Anurag Agarwal said  that during the Lok Sabha general elections scheduled for May 25 in the state, the illegal sale of liquor will not be allowed, and strict vigilance will be ensured by the District  Administration on the sale of liquor. If any illegal liquor is found anywhere, strict action will be taken by the police department against those involved, he said.

Sh. Anurag Agarwal  said that close  vigilance is required to prevent the supply of illegal liquor in the state and to ensure the same Police is keeping a close watch on suspicious individuals and locations.

He said that continuous checking of legal vendors and their stocks will be conducted by the excise department along with the police administration. Police and District Administration will closely monitor activities such as the sale of illegal and counterfeit liquor. If the cooperation of the police department is required in activities such as checking, they will be provided with all possible assistance by the police department, said Sh. Anurag Agarwal.

Sh. Agarwal said that whatever duties have been assigned to any officer during the elections, they should fulfill them with complete honesty and dedication. No laxity will be tolerated in this work.

He directed the officers  concerned to assess all polling stations in their respective districts, and if any polling station needs to be shifted elsewhere, its report should be submitted immediately so that the polling station can be shifted on time.

He said that all Returning Officers should ensure that electricity, water, sanitation, and all other facilities are available at the polling stations. If there is any shortage of anything at any polling station, it should be fulfilled immediately.

Sh. Anurag Agarwal  said that to increase the percentage of voting in the state, awareness programs should be organized under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) campaign to encourage people to vote so that more and more people can use their vote. He appealed to all voters to participate in this festival of democracy scheduled for May 25 and contribute to strengthening the democracy of the country by casting their vote.
