Chandigarh, (KK) - When former Home and Health Minister of Haryana, Sh. Anil Vij, arrived in Panjokhra Sahib village of Ambala, Haryana, for an election program today, he saw some protesting farmers in the village. He personally stopped his car, got out, and went among the farmers to listen to them.
With folded hands, former Minister Anil Vij and the farmers greeted each other. Anil Vij said that he had done the most work in Panjokhra Sahib and had come to the village to meet the people. The farmers welcomed former Minister Anil Vij and demanded action against those responsible for firing on farmers, to which Anil Vij responded that he is no longer a minister and that they are their brothers. He said that he did not run away upon seeing the protesting farmers but instead came to listen to them.
Former Minister Anil Vij told the farmers, "Regardless of who ordered the firing on farmers, I was the Home Minister at that time and I take responsibility for it."
He stated that although he is no longer a minister, he is still an MLA who can address the issues of his constituency. When Anil Vij asked the farmers if they acknowledged the development work he did in Panjokhra Sahib during his tenure, the farmers agreed.
The farmers welcomed him, to which Anil Vij responded by saying that if they were welcoming him, they should offer him tea and water. One farmer remarked that he would become the Chief Minister, to which Anil Vij replied that how would they make someone from Ambala the Chief Minister?
Former Minister Anil Vij also told the farmers that they are one and the same, although their issues may be different. Meanwhile, the farmers presented demands to former Minister Anil Vij, including making a local canal permanent, reopening Shambhu border, and releasing the youths imprisoned during the protests.
Furthermore, former Minister Anil Vij held several election meetings today in Panjokhra Sahib, Khatauli, Mandour, Janetpur, Barnala, Tundli, Tundla, and Kalraheri in support of BJP candidate Banto Kataria from Ambala.
